摘要

Emerging multimedia applications require real-time delivery of information over computer networks. Providing such timeliness guarantees needs an efficient data transmission method. This paper presents a new TCP compatible method that is suitable for real-time delivery. It uses following mechanisms to ameliorate network performance: reliability bit to present requirement of retransmission, sequence bit to present requirement of sequence delivery, network maximum transfer unit(MTU) to improve network availability, and aggregating mechanism to deliver several independent packet streams within a traffic flow. Experiments prove that the method is efficient for real-time delivery.
