In this study, a mathematical model of a single trabecula was developed to simulate its long4erm adaptive response in a changing stress environment. The model incorporates an osteocyte mechanosensing network that regulates the morphology and tissue material behavior of the trabecula. The adaptation response was shown to be most sensitive to changes in bending moments acting on the trabecula's boundaries, and a decrease of more than 57% in their value caused thinning of the trabecular profiles.
