New TPV grades for airbag covers

The growth of passive safety system technology in terms of advanced frontal airbags, side bags, inflatable knee bolsters, inflatable floor pan devices and rollover protection systems are now entering the market. The requirements for airbag covers are also changing in which, they require special grades of thermoplastic vulcanizate TPV used to perform low temperature deployment. In the past few years, DSM Thermoplastic Elastomers developed a designated range of TPV-materials for airbag covers that will be the main topic for this paper.
