A PERFORMANCE-BASED APPROACH TO EXITING OF THE PROPOSED VANCOUVER CONVENTION EXHIBITION CENTRE UTILIZING FIRE MODELLING

摘要

Fire modelling has been utilized in developing performance-based smoke management systems and exiting from the proposed Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre. This paper outlines the fire modelling methodology used to quantify the potential for a fire to affect evacuation from the new Convention Centre facilities. A performance-based approach was developed, in consideration of reduced exit capacity and extended travel distances, as an alternative to the prescriptive limits defined in the local applicable building code.
