Slim composite floors comprise profiled steel decking as the permanent formwork to the underside of concrete slabs spanning between support steel beams, with the decking acting compositively with the concrete under service loading. They represent an attractive constructive option, not only for its execution speed but also for the possibility of reduction of the construction total height. Among other aspects, such as the natural frequency of the system, the design of slim composite floors should consider the adherence between the steel deck and the concrete and the concrete cracking in tension. The objective of this work consists in the proposition of a finite element model with plate elements that can represent the behavior of slim composite floors, considering in a simplified way the effects mentioned above.
