Corrosion mechanism of bare and pretreated Zn and Zn-Al-Mg hot-dipped steel

Galvanised steel (GI) and steel galvanised with a Zn/Al/Mg alloy branded as MagiZinc are tested in demineralised water, in chloride -, and in sulphate containing electrolyte (0.01 M NaCl resp. 0.01 M Na_2SO_4). The substrates were tested bare, after coating with a typical no-rinse organic/inorganic phosphate based layer or after a dip-phosphating process.
