A new approach to particulate emission monitoring is described which is a substantial step beyond existing devices, and addresses some of the industry's most important concerns about those devices and their technology. The new technology is related to older technologies variously described as "AC tribo" and "tribo-kinetic", however it provides greatly improved velocity-independence, and a number of other benefits. The new technology is released as a new family of modular components which are combined in different ways to produce a variety of products. The flexibility of these components permits a "zero-waste" upgrade policy, so the simplest, lowest-cost "broken bag detector" can be upgraded to the most sophisticated EPA-compliant multi-signal networked measurement system with total recovery of the cost of the original products. The paper discusses the principles of triboelectrics, some of the industry's major concerns, the new technology, and the first products in the new product family.
