There have been recent requirements to reduce cutting fluid in mass production factories, because of the high cost and harmfulness of coolant. Near dry machining technology (MQL) makes it possible to machine with conventional cutting parameters, without using much coolant. This report includes two important solutions to achieve near dry machining in a machining center. One is MQL equipment, which generates and transfers the mixture of lubricant and air. The other is the method of removing chips and shavings. The main points of this presentation are the following.
