The potential of quarry dust in developing high performance concrete has been investigated. Normal Portland cement, silica fume, quarry dust and silica fume-quarry dust concretes were produced in the study. The properties of concrete have been examined in respect of workability, compressive strength and initial surface absorption. It was observed that silica fume-quarry dust concrete exhibited good workability. It has also provided good compressive strength and resistance to water penetration in water and water-dry air curing. Overall test results reveal that high performance concrete can be produced by the use of quarry dust as partial replacement of sand.
