Estimating chemical air emissions from solutions in process tanks at a plating jobshop using a timely inexpensive method

Chemical air emissions from solutions in process tanks at a plating jobshop are nearly impossible to estimate unless expensive and time-consuming applications are used. Excluding chemical air emissions caused from miscellaneous items (processing through cleaning and plating operations), there is an inexpensive and labor-friendly method that can be used to calculate chemical evaporation from solutions in process tanks. The calculation is derived from the book, Water and Waste Control for the Plating Shop, by J.B. Kushner. The assets, liabilities, and procedures of that method will be discussed.
