Military tank track bushings are plagued by short lifetimes due to high stresses,which produce hysteretic heat build-up.These stresses include compression as a result of track tension and torsion as the track passes over the sprockets.Laboratory techniques for the measurement of the dynamic and fatigue properties of elastomers in mixed mode conditions are currently either of limited scope,or application specific.This work investigates the use of a mixed mode test fixture developed to provide generalized combined loadings.
