摘要

A synthetic overview of the most fascinating topic of phased array antennas for satellite communications was presented. A system engineering approach to the design and development of phased array was shown essential in order to achieve an effective and synergic design and to implement large-scale production techniques. It is an author's firm opinion that a broadband technical background and an open, "laterally thinking" mentality are key factors for the successful design, development and production of active phased arrays.
