Solid waste management has a greater importance in the view of transportation system and operation has increased in size and complexity. The conventional approach in optimal transportation management by using individual experience is losing its place in the view of complexity of solid waste management. During the incidence of epidemics, conventional method of collection, transportation and disposal is not adequate to eradicate the spreading of communicable diseases like plague. Identification of minimal spanning tree is an essential tool to achieve the above objective. An attempt has been made in this paper to identify the normal shortest path and emergency optimum path for integrated solid waste management of Jodhpur city by using optimization techniques such as transportation problem, shortest route algorithm and minimal spanning tree.
