In order to investigate the possibility of raw silk fiber as a reinforcement of thermoplastic composite, the mechanical properties of raw silk fiber reinforced composite were discussed. Poly-propylene resin was used for the matrix material of composite materials and the tensile specimens were molded by using injection-molding method. As a result, tensile strength and tensile modulus were increased with increasing the fiber content. It is noted here that the maleic anhydrid poly-propylene (MAPP) was effective for the adhesion between fibers and matrix material.
