Coalbed Methane Development in the Gunnedah Basin, New South Wales Australia

PEL 238 covers approximately 9,500 square kilometres of the Permo-Triassic Gunnedaha Basin, NSW in which independently assessed natural gas resources have been calculated at over 35TCF within the Permian coal measures of PEL 238 with additional significant gas resources identified within Permian and Triassic sandstone reservoirs. 15 wells, 484 kilometres new seismic data, two cavity completions and 7 hydraulic fracture stimulations have been completed during hte period March, 1998 to February, 1999. Selected coal seam methane wells have been placed in production and although many wells are producing gas they are still in the initial production stage.
