Er~(3+):Yb~(3+) co-doped oxy-fluoride glass as well as Er~(3+) singly doped and Er~(3+):Tb~(3+) co-doped fluoride glasses were prepared. The up-conversion emissions around 550 nm and 525nm of Er~(3+) were observed under 858 nm excitation, and their up-conversion mechanisms were discussed.
