Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) systems are increasingly being used for deepwater fields where use of traditional platforms and pipelines is not cost effective. The risks associated with FPSOs are inherently different from those for onshore facilities and conventional offshore platforms. This paper focuses on some of the key issues in the application of consequence assessment to FPSOs. This paper reviews and illustrates some of the techniques used for analysis of hydrocarbon hazards associated with FPSO operations.
