The security of next-generation postage meter devices

摘要

The use of new technology in the postal businesses is developing rapidly, and improvements in the security of devices which contain or control monetary value, has provided a technology enabler so that step changes in the way in which postage meter devices can be used will be implemented in the near future.This paper describes the background to the use of postage meter devices in the UK postal environment, discusses the existing and emerging technologies, and describes the security system that Royal Mail is proposing to use in the future.
