Occupant Assessment of Indoor Air quality

摘要

The key aims of the indoor air sciences are to understand how indoor air quality (IAQ) affects the health, comfort and productivity of people in the indoor environment, and to develop and implement methods to improve indoor air quality. This paper first summarises the broad scope of environmental psychology in indoor air science, to place in context the use of occupant assessments. It then explores the role of occupant assessment of IAQ in addressing the above aims. Sick building syndrome is used as an example to show the role and value of occupant surveys, and to introduce some of the relevant methods. All this is intended to represent the basis of what should be included in a curriculum for the indoor air sciences.
