The aluminum electrolysis industrial solid wastes (AEISW) including aluminum electrolysis carbonaceous slag (AECS) and spent potlining (SPL) are the unavoidable by-products of aluminum smelting process and are listed as hazardous wastes. The authors of this paper have successfully developed a comprehensive utilization technique (CUT) for treating AEISW on the basis of their properties. Carbon and electrolyte in AEISW can be separated by flotation. The flotation carbon powder can be used as the additive for manufacturing cathode or anode of aluminum electrolysis cell, the flotation electrolyte after roasting under 600 deg C can be used again as aluminum electrolyte and the flotation wastewater after treating by bleaching powder method can meet the draining stadards for industrial wastewater. The flowsheet of CUT has advantages of simple process and easy industrialization.
