Wisconsin and Japan may be more than 7,000 miles apart, but for three years employees of Nuclear Management Company (NMC) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) worked side by side on a special collaboration to fabricate five reactor vessel heads for replacement in U.S. nuclear power plants. The efforts culminated in the installation of these five heads between the fall of 2004 and the spring of 2006, an unprecedented 18 months.
