With the economic development and the improvement of people's living standards, the consumption of electrical energy has been increasing rapidly. Together with this people also see the steady increase of electrical fires caused by the failure or/and wrong handling of electric equipment. This paper, based on the analysis of the area distribution of the electrical fires and the characteristics of the fires in different fields, tries to find out the causes of these fires and consequently suggests two countermeasures to prevent and reduce the fires technically and administratively. Hopefully they will be of some use for handling the electrical fires.
