A study on friction characteristic of piston group

摘要

This paper presents some results of piston friction measurements under fired condition. The effects of piston skirt profile, skirt length and ting tension on friction reduction were investigated. As for skirt profile a barrel share which has maximum diameter in its lower part showed the biggest friction reduction Reductions in skit length and ring tension are also highly effective differently However, effect of combination of the short skirt and the low-tension ring is smaller than additional value of their independent effects. It was considered that a lubricant film formation was related to these phenomena from the friction waveform analysis.
