WC-Co cermets arc widely used for surface modification to protect various components from wear and erosion in a variety of industrial environments. High-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spraying process is usually applied to deposit WC-Co cermets, however, properties of the HVOF-sprayed WC-Co coating are still inferior to the sintered WC-Co materials because of the decomposition and degradation of WC phase during deposition process.
