Developments in power generation from biomass in europe

With a view to addressing its energy requirements for the new millennium, Australia can learn a great deal from the recent developments in the utilisation of biomass that have taken place in Europe over the last decade. More particularly, the focus should be directed to the ideas and solutions, which have been developed for the treatment and disposal of waste materials. The aim of this paper is to provide a window into a number of projects where Lurgi has recently bene involved in the generation of electric power from biomass. The author has just returned to Australia after a 6 year secondment with Lurgi in Germany and the United Kingdom.
