Dynamic performance evaluation in a WDM trunk and branch network incorporating 1:N wavelength protection

In summary, a 1: N wavelength protection scheme for wavelength routed Trunk and Branch network was proposed and the physical layer requirements for its effective operation under perturbed conditions were examined. It was found that rapid receiver AGC or threshold optimisation are required if surviving channel performance degradation is to be avoided.
