Full-Scale High-Pressure Stripper/Packer Testing with Wellhead Pressure to 15,000 psi

The oil and gas field industries continually challenge the limita-rntions of coiled tubing(C7)equipment.With an increasingrnamount of high-pressure work developing for CT，validatingrncomponents for this work is a challenge.One component in rnparticular，the stripper element，is ofinterest.Many manufactur-rners of tubing strippers rate their components for working pres-rnsures from 10，000 to 20，000 psi，but limited test data is available rnfor element wear or resiliency at these pressures.rn This paper presentS results from full-scale testing of a rnstripper／packer element at pressures as great as 15，000 psi.rnVarious elementS were tested for longevity．Internal materialrnintegrity，and safety at high to ultrahigh pressures.As a result of rnthe evaluation，(1)the stripper／packer was validated to 15，000rnpsi，(2)a suitable packing element was developed andtested，and rn(3)operational guidelines for high—pressure work were devel-rnoped for the field.
