The use of biomass as an energy source in vast ranges of rural areas to produce civil gas and oil has advantage compared to ordinarily direct combustion as cooking fuel. The objective of the research in this paper is to describe pyrolysis behavior of various biomass samples in our pyrolysis test rig. The effect of temperature on the pyrolysis reactor performance including gas yield, gas component, gas heating value and product (gas, char, tar) profile have been studied and the results are analyzed. The effects of biomass fuel on pyrolysis behavior are also analyzed. Moreover, biomass interparticle heat transfer is discussed. Some results drawn from our experiments are not similar to other literature, but they are very interesting and seem useful inbring new insight into the process concerned.
