In this paper, a new type of re-configurable all optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM) with dynamic gain control function is presented. The channel spacing of the input four-wavelength WDM signal is 3.2nm. The function of adding and dropping any wavelength component of the signal is demonstrated. The total loss is less than 1dB. Under the control of the gain management unit, the difference of each channel is less than 0.3dB. Due to the transparency of the OADM, it can add/drop different kinds of optical signals. In this paper,w e also present the experimental setup and discuss its results. The highest test bit rate of the WDM signal is 2.5Gbit/s. Its applications in the WDM all optical networks are also discussed.
