Eddy current testing (ECT) is the predominant inspection procedure for nuclear power plant steam generators. An automated system for analyzing ECT data from steam generator tubing has been developed. The PC-based system, called EDDYAI, will assist engineers in analyzing ECT data from steam generator tubing inspection. The objective is to develop a virtual stand-alone program requiring very little user assistance. It should be able to locate, size and classify tube wall degradation with a very high accuracy. Since it is to be a tool to assist the engineers, it may be slightly conservative so that every possible location of tube wall degradation is flagged. The user will then make the final decision as to the nature of degradation.
