With the advantages of wide aera detection in fardistance and without touching and directly perceived by means of being photographied, the infrared thermography technique has become the effective way of diagnosing electrical equipments with faults. As far as the location of the faults exist, the faults of the electrical equipments can be divided into internal faults and external faults. Generally specking, the external faults are simple and the internal faults are complex. Therefore, the external faults are easy to be discerned and the internal faults are difficult to be penetrated. To find out the internal faults by means of infrared thermography, one must know the law of internal faults attribute to the relation of their infrared thermography characteristics. This paper is aimed at this case to discuss some technique problems of diagnosing the electrical equipment with internal faults by way of infrared thermography, and show some typical examples thermographies of electrical equipments with internal faults.
