Successful middle-scale development of the slovak-hungarian section of the danube

Based on alleged catastrophic environmental impacts mainly of the Nagymaros riverstep, Hungary tried - since May 1989 - to prevent the commissioning of the Gabcikovo canalstep - the first part of the Hydroelectric System Gabcikovo-Nagymaros on the Slovak-Hungarian border section of the Danube, built on the base of an interstate Treaty, signed in 1977.
