The rigid limit equilibrium method is the simplest approach that is used to solve the stability analysis in rock slopes and embankments. It is able to produce comparable results as regards the safety of the structure and hence has been widely used to analyze the stability problem for a long time. However, there are at present several methods of analysis in existence that are based on the idea of the rigid limit equilibrium. To devise a realistic engineering, the different solutions are sometimes obtained by these methods of analysis. Then it is necessary to know what kind of method can be appropriately used.
