This paper discusses the impact of several design and construction factors on the long-term performance and durability of pultruded composites. These factors include; structural detailin, material selection and its interrelationship with the surrounding environment, as we as fabrication and construction procedure. The paper reports the findings and description of severdamages which occurred to a large pultruded FRP structural systems at a large mining facility in USA. The structural survey and evaluation indicated that the majority of the investigated structural members were severally damaged due to faulty structural design and detailings of both memebers and connections, wrong selection of the resin system used in manufacturing these pultruded composites, as well as the poor quality control and quality assurance during the fabrication and construction processes.
