Voltage regulation is a very important issue in modern power systems, due to the growing of loads not always followed by a suitable increasing of generation and transmission facilities. Voltage collapse assessment tools are therefore necessary in operation and in the very short term planning environment: traditional algorithmic procedures and neural networks based on the multilayer perceptron have been developed and are compared in this paper.
