The report, after a synthetic account of the general concepts and recent progresses of the water jet cutting technology, presents and analyses the first results of a test campaign presently underway in the gneiss quarries of the Ossola basin, Italy, aimed to develop a practical dimensional stone exploitation method based on this new (at least in the field of hard stone quarrying) cutting tool.
