In this paper, in order to provide purified BF gas with high calorific value for high blast temperature operation adn the engineering application of some new ironmaking technology, a practicable method, not potassium carbonate process (HPCP), were proposed to remove CO_2 from the BF top gas. On basis of technological and economic consideration, a single stage absorption process was chosen. Against the large flow and heavy dust of practical BF gas, the stacked hole-plate triple packing tower was selected as absorber and a simulated packing tower filled with the multi-layer metal wire screens was designed for the laboratory study of the HPCP method. The process parameters, such as mass-transfer coefficients of the gas and liquid phases, liquid flooding point and gas pressure drop in the packing tower etc., were measured under the condition in respect with BF operation. The measuremdents were used to predict the rate of Co_2 removal from the BF gas. The efficiency and suitability of different activators were identified and the rate of CO_2 absorption under various conditions was investigated. The results of research show that HPCP method is efficient in removing CO_2 fro the BF gas and the rate of CO_2 removal is higher than 80
