By technological experiments on bottom pulverized coal injection at a 10t converter the metallurgical reactions of continuous coal oxygen injection into molten steel have been studied. An assumption of direct burning of coal in molten steel has been raised and as the result that low carbon steel can be produced with coal injection is explained. The formula for decarburization of steel bath has been given. The apparent desulphurization rate constant has been measured and activation energy of dephosphorization has also been calculated. The influence of coal injection on nitrogen pick up is studied too.
