A simulation model for active-matrix electroluminescent (AMEL) display devices has been developed. This simulation has yielded additional information regarding power dissipation and has contributed to the design of improved AMEL pixel layouts for VGA displays. In addition, this work has also contributed to the development and characterization of optimal device parameters for maximum light output and minimum power dissipation.
