Due to the proliferation of mines with ever reducing metal content, search equipment manufacturers have been under pressure to design equipment to meet the increasing sensitivity requirements. The required increase in sensitivity has been difficult to achieve with standard detectors (continuous wave detectors and pulsed detectors). The development of a twin frequency detector has enabled detection sensitivity to be increased with additional benefits such as selectivity and operation conditions. The two frequency unit indicates a higher sensitivity over the pulsed equipment for all objects, which is more pronounced with the smaller object sizes.
