ATMNMS:ATM Network Monitor and Event Generator

摘要

The experience with the implementation of an ATM network management system (ATMNMS) is described in this paper.The ATMNMS is divided into two modules,network monitor and event generator,by means of their individual functions.Network monitor module is responsible for getting ATM network information to do fault,performance,and configuration management.Upon receiving these information from the first module,the event generator module is activated to evaluate the network performance/the QoS (Quality of Services) parameters and then issue corresponding valuable in formation for preventing error or fault recovering.In the prototype,we built 26 managed objects and define 4 operational actions under HP OpenView SNMP platform.From the plan and implementation discussions,we believe that the ATMNMS will be a very valuable tool in future ATM network manag(e)ment issue.
