The GSM mobile radio network is to be complemented by other digital networks which can handle a greater number of subscribers while providing better service.With standardization work for the GSM-based system DCS 1800 or PCN completed,base stations and mobile telephones are launched on the market.This paper presents the system architecture and applications of the PCN-Simulator and PCN-Base Station Tester newly developed.The PCN-Simulator simulates a PCN network with four resp.six base stations and performs all measurements needed for thorough function checks on mobiles.The measurements fully meet the comprehensive GSM11.10-DCS ETSI Technical Specification.The PCN-Base Station Tester complies to the GSM 11.20-DCS ETSI Specification.
