T-algorithm[2-5] has bccn employed to compensate the lntcrsymbol Interference(ISI)introduced by widcband mobile radio channels.In this paper,an adaptive T-algorithm equalizer is proposed to reduce the number of survivors of which the t-parameter is adjusted according to the instantaneous received signal strength.Armed with the proposed algorithm above,the bit error rate (BER)performance of the GSM system over a twopath Rayleigh faded channel having 5 symbol period of excess delay is examined.The average number of survivors is reduced by more 90% at the expense of marginal BER degradation.
