IONFMX system is the new FM stereophonic broadcasting system developed by NAB and CBS of The United States. In this paper the author fist introduces the distinguishing features of FMX system and then discusses its improvements of signal-to-noise ration. The focal point of the analyses and discussions are its compatibility, including the problems of variation of the playback level and the stereophonic separation in the receiver and the level elevation caused by the FMX encoder.
