The photodissociation dynamics of OCIO in room temperature water solution were investigated using picosecond transient absorption spectroscopy. The time dependent data are consistent with the conclusion that following excitation at 355 nm, 90% of the OCIO molecules photodissociate forming CIO and O and 10% isomerize forming CIOO. The photochemically generated CIOO thermally decomposes into Cl and O$-2$/ with a rate constant of approximately 6.7 $MUL 10$+9$/ s$+$MIN@1$/.
