Testing Technologies to Support Network and Services Testing in a 5G Test Network

Trends such as 5G and Internet of Things are driving modern systems towards increasing complexity in diverse configurations of heterogeneous networks, ubiquitous integration of hardware and software, and complex interactions between the different parts. This paper describes the testing technologies developed and deployed in our 5G test network (5GTN), to support development and testing of such systems, next generation services deployed on them, and the underlying network technologies. We describe the 5GTN testing technologies, including the software architecture enabling distributed test generation, monitoring and data collection from test execution. We also describe the 5GTN integrated data analytics services enabling efficient use of the test data, as well as initial results for the first tests in the network.
