Dye sensitized solar cells (DSC) are a potential low cost form of photovoltaic technology based on the lower cost of the raw materials which can be used allied to the potential for large scale, continuous DSC manufacture [1]. DSC devices operate differently from p-n junction PV devices because visible light is absorbed by dye molecules adsorbed to a metal oxide semi-conductor; most usually anatase titania [2]. Electrons are then injected from the excited state of the dye into the titania conduction band before passing between TiO_2 particles, around a circuit and back to the dye via a redox couple.
