Method of Limiting the Dynamic Loads on Hot Plate Mill's Mechatronics System

One of the serious problems occurring during rolling on plate mills is substantial dynamic load on electromechanic systems during roll biting. A kinematic layout and control scheme for electric drives of horizontal roll stands of the 5000 mill are introduced. Oscillograms proving the existence of unfavorable dynamic torque on electric drive during entrance of blanks into the stand are presented. The development of control methods ensuring the limitation of dynamic loads is substantiated. A method for compensating for a dynamic moment by increasing roll clearance before biting of rolled products and then returning to the predetermined position is reviewed. The results of mathematical simulation of impact load application are presented with a pressure change graph in real-time. Transitional processes at mill 5000 obtained by means of oscillography are analyzed. Conclusions are made regarding the decrease of the dynamic velocity deviations and almost complete elimination of the torque overshoot during the implementation of the proposed control method.
