This paper compares the mechanics and general advantages and disadvantages of the HDPE pipe-joining methods commonly employed in the mining industry. Established methods such as fusion, flanging and mechanical couplings are covered, followed by recent advancements in mechanical joining methods. Comparison focuses on ease and speed of installation, need for specialized equipment and crews, strength and reliability of the joint, system access and ease and speed of maintenance.
