ADVANCEMENT OF FINE COAL HM CYCLONE PROCESS

The HM coal process technology of gravity-fed 3-product HM cyclone was developed originally by Beijing Guohua and has been extensively used primarily in China coal industry for last 15 years and some recently in the other countries as well to effectively process coal particles down to 0.25 mm. Accordingly a unique fine coal HM cyclone process was also developed and widely used in China to effectively process -0.50 mm fine coal down to 0.1 mm at Ep value of 0.08 - 0.1 Kg/L. Recent research development of the fine coal HM cyclone process showed further improvement of accuracy of fine coal separation in the cyclone, which is especially shown at the two ends of partition curves. This paper will describe details of the new development and the related plant test results. Three major factors, including feed pressure, magnetic content and length of cyclone cylinder section, were primarily studied in this R&D work.
